Randolph County arrest records begin with the agency that made the arrest. The Randolph County Sheriff handles incidents in unincorporated areas and performs countywide duties. Elkins Police creates reports for events inside Elkins. The West Virginia State Police Elkins Detachment handles state-law, highway, and investigative work. A multiagency case may involve the Mountain Region Drug Task Force, but the lead agency usually keeps the report. Beverly's police force disbanded in 2024, so a current Beverly arrest record is more likely held by the sheriff or WVSP. Mill Creek residents should also confirm which badge and agency responded.

Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail is also located in Randolph County, but it is a state correctional institution. A person serving a state prison sentence at Huttonsville is not the same as a person booked at Tygart Valley after a recent county arrest. Use the WVDCR Jail search for regional-jail custody, the Prison search for sentenced prison custody, and Daily Incarcerations for admission or release movement. That split prevents a facility location from being mistaken for the location of the underlying case.

No official universal fee, response-time promise, email request address, or downloadable Randolph form was located. Call first. West Virginia FOIA, Chapter 29B, provides a route to nonexempt public records, but active investigations, juvenile material, victim data, informant details, personal identifiers, and sensitive unserved-warrant information can be withheld or redacted. If Elkins Police or WVSP made the arrest, send the request to that agency rather than the sheriff.

Randolph Arrests Reach the CIB

The state repository trail begins when fingerprints and charge data are submitted to the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau. That submission forms a biometric arrest cycle.
