Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When someone sends us a direct message, we retain it as needed to respond. It is kept within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Time spent on individual pages
- The referring site, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure how visitors move through the site. Analytics providers combine this traffic information so we can see broad patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site describes where Randolph County records are held, including Sheriff Law Enforcement, the Magistrate and Circuit clerks, the West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, WVDCR, and the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal file, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices govern information submitted to them. We do not set those policies. Read the provider's terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the sheriff, court systems, West Virginia agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows such a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query

- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, it will be removed.
Your Data Rights
Rights depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the type of data involved. West Virginia's Freedom of Information Act, Chapter 29B, governs access to nonexempt government records, while W. Va. Code §15-2-24(d) limits nongovernmental release of CIB criminal-history material without the subject's written, acknowledged authorization. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Where applicable law provides a right, a visitor may:
- Request access to eligible personal information
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law requires it
- Exercise an available opt-out right
